Position Title: Carpenter
Job Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Job Summary: The Carpenter plays a key role in the construction and renovation of commercial spaces by performing a wide range of tasks related to wood framing, finish carpentry, cabinetry, and general construction. This position requires a combination of technical skill, physical endurance, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team under the direction of project leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, wallboard, and other materials;
Use a wide range of carpenter’s hand tools and power tools safely and effectively;
Interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and specifications to guide builds;
Frame walls, install subflooring, build stairs, and install partitions and casework;
Install and hang doors, windows, hardware, locks, and decorative elements;
Prepare, measure, cut, shape, treat, and finish materials according to project needs;
Perform floor work, including underlayment and finish installation;
Ensure all work complies with applicable building codes, regulations, and safety standards;
Follow safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring a safe work environment for oneself and team members;
Prepare and maintain clean, organized, and secure work surfaces and job sites;
Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and other trades to ensure timely and high-quality project execution;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
In order to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and in a timely manner. Physical skills needed include:
Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 80 pounds or more and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time;
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and reach for extended periods throughout the workday;
Must have full range of motion in upper and lower body, manual dexterity, and ability to use hands to handle tools, materials, and controls;
Must be able to work on ladders, scaffolds, roofs, and elevated platforms at varying heights;
Flexibility to work in various weather conditions and environments;
Ability to perform tasks while wearing appropriate PPE, including hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and fall protection gear;
Visual and hearing acuity required to safely operate tools and equipment, identify hazards, and communicate effectively on busy job sites.

Basic Qualifications:
Be at least 18 years of age;
A valid Florida driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire;
Ability to read blueprints and drawings to extract information such as material requirements and structure dimensions;
Strong ability to perform layout preparation using measurement tools with the ability to accurately mark materials for cutting and assembly;
Fastening materials accurately with nails, dowel pins, screws, bolts, or glue;
Assemble of framework for structures including the laying of subflooring, building stairs, and laying out and installing partitions and cabinet work;
Fitting and installation of window frames, doors, door framing, weather stripping, trim and finish hardware (locks, kick plates, etc);
Proven understanding of the design and fabrication of props and other show-support items within budget and time constraints
Proficiency in using a variety of hand and power tools;
Vital understanding of the safety components of all tools;
Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately;
Effective time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks;
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent;
Proven experience with structural framing, finish carpentry, door/window installation, and casework;
Familiarity with job site processes and collaborating across construction teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Journeyman Level Carpenter with demonstrable experience of 5 years or more;
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification;
Experience with design-build projects and reading detailed shop drawings;
Ability to lead small crews or train less experienced carpenters when needed;
Basic knowledge of related trades (e.g., drywall, painting, millwork installation);
Prior experience operating heavy machinery or equipment;
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills is a plus.
Working Relationships:
The Carpenter is a member of the Construction Team and reports to the Supervisor/Project Manager.
Work Schedule:
This is a full-time, hourly position based in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, with work primarily scheduled Monday through Friday during daytime hours. Standard shifts typically run from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Scheduling may vary depending on job site needs and project timelines.
Full-Time requires full availability for any shift, seven (7) days per week, including nights and holidays. Full-time staff will work at least 30 hours per week.
Schedule Availability:
Occasional weekend work may be necessary to maintain project schedules or complete time-sensitive installations.
Must be available for early morning start times and longer days when needed.
Some projects may require overnight or off-hours work, particularly in occupied commercial spaces or during critical phases of construction.
Outdoor work may be affected by weather conditions; flexibility and adaptability are required
